Once upon a time, there was a Dutchess and a Duke named Kimberly and Jesse. They lived in Seattle, and they liked to play music, and one day they made a record called She’s the Dutchess, He’s the Duke.
The album sounds like days gone by, like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen—and it sounds like right […]

Seattle artist Joe Vollan offers up gems. His painting explore both sureal and natural worlds with technical precision and unbasic style. During these uncertain times of impending elections, bloated gas prices, and panic over the environment, we need artists like Joe voland to remind us of our own imagination.

1. Who or What is your biggest artistic inspiration?

You could get dizzy from the gazillion wardrobe changes in Sex and City this weekend—or you could avoid the cosmo-swilling crowds and catch “Pret a Filmer.” The Northwest Film Forum’s week-long series of fashion films, starting tomorrow, will feature documentaries on Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Jacobs. That ain’t no Bitten by SJP.

Please enjoy this fantastically sarcastic, and condescending letter I recieved from the ever genuine Robert Crumb.

Specsone is an underground favorite!  You have seen his bold graffiti on city walls (he keeps it legal) and his paintings on canvas, where he takes his larger than life art form to a gallery scale. Specsone’s  work   referenceselements of hip hop culture and are also inspired by comic books and graphic novels. Catch his showing at the Georgetown Tileworks  (5905 Airport Way S in Seattle).
